AI CHILDREN'S BOOK CREATOR

AI Children's Book Creator

Create a finished, illustrated children's book from one idea. NFE Studios writes a playful, age-appropriate story and illustrates it with characters that stay the same on every page.

No splitting the work between a writing tool and a separate illustrator, and no fighting to keep your character consistent. Write it, picture it, and export a print-ready picture book in one place.

How does the AI children's book creator work?

You describe the story idea and the child it's for. The engine asks about age range, lesson, length and art style, then plans the book in a writing guide. After you approve, it writes short page text and illustrates each spread with the same characters, ready to read aloud or export.

  1. Share the idea and reader

Tell the engine the premise and the age group, for example a small dragon who's afraid of the dark, for ages 3 to 5.

  2. Set the cast and style

Design your main characters and choose an art style once. Approve a writing guide that maps the story across the pages.

  3. Write short page text

The engine writes a few simple sentences per page, with the rhythm and repetition young listeners enjoy. Hear it read aloud to test the flow.

  4. Illustrate every spread

Generate pictures for each page with the same characters throughout, then export a print-ready PDF or turn the book into a narrated film.

Real pages made in NFE Studios

These pages are from Wings of a Dream, our own illustrated series, written and illustrated in the studio. The same characters stay consistent from page to page.

Wings of a Dream: the tamale family together at sunset in their villageWings of a Dream: a stormy moment at home as the mother shields her little onesWings of a Dream: a small tamale by the river watches an airplane fly overheadWings of a Dream: the little tamale makes a wish in the sunlightWings of a Dream: the smallest tamale glowing in golden light at the end of the story

What does an AI children's book spread look like?

Each spread pairs a few lines of simple, rhythmic text with one picture that shows what the words leave out. Below is one example spread from a made-up picture book for ages 3 to 5, with the page text and a description of the illustration.

Illustrative example — one spread
PAGES 6–7 · "Pip and the Dark" (ages 3–5)

PAGE TEXT
Pip peeked under the bed.
Pip peeked behind the door.
"Hello, Dark," Pip whispered.
And the Dark said... nothing at all.

ILLUSTRATION
A small, round green dragon in striped pajamas holds a
glowing jar of fireflies. The bedroom is deep blue. Soft
light from the jar falls on a teddy bear, a tipped-over
block tower and the edge of a curtain. Pip's tail is curled
tight, but one foot is stepping forward.

What makes a good children's book?

A good picture book is short, reads aloud easily and lets the pictures do half the storytelling. It has a lovable main character, a simple problem and a satisfying ending. Repetition and rhythm help young children follow along and join in.

  • Keep the text short

Picture books often use just a few sentences per page. Leave room for the illustration to show feelings and details.

  • Repeat on purpose

A repeated line or pattern lets kids predict what's next and say it with you. Ask the engine to add a refrain.

  • Keep the character steady

Children notice when a character changes color or shape. Set the look once and reuse it on every page.

What you get

  • Age-appropriate, playful page text
  • Consistent character art across every page
  • Storybook layout with read-aloud narration
  • Export a print-ready illustrated PDF (great for KDP self-publishing)

How much does it cost?

Writing the story is free, with a rate limit. Pictures use tokens: 15 for a standard image, 60 for high quality, and 75 to design a character. You get 100 free tokens to start, and 1 token is $0.01, so you can work out what a full book costs before buying more.

Token prices for this format
Character design75 tokens ($0.75) per character
Standard image15 tokens ($0.15) per image
High-quality image60 tokens ($0.60) per image
Voice15 tokens ($0.15) per 1,000 characters
Film render60 tokens ($0.60) per minute

Top-ups come in $10, $25, $50, $100 with bonus tokens on larger amounts. The free plan adds a watermark and no commercial rights; pay-as-you-go has no watermark and includes commercial rights. See full pricing →

Frequently asked questions

Is there an AI tool that writes AND illustrates a children's book?

Yes. NFE Studios does both in one place. It writes age-appropriate page text from your idea, then illustrates each page with the same characters and art style. You don't need to copy text into a separate image tool or brief an illustrator, and you can revise the words and pictures as you go.

Will my character look the same on every page?

That's the main goal. You design each character once, and the engine uses that design as a reference for every illustration. If an image drifts, regenerate that page. Consistent characters are what make a picture book feel finished, and they're the hardest part to get right with general image tools.

Can I self-publish the book on Amazon KDP?

You can export a clean, print-ready illustrated PDF. Use pay-as-you-go so the file has no watermark and includes commercial rights. Our KDP guide covers the upload steps. Amazon asks publishers to tell them when content is AI-generated, so check their current rules before you publish.

What age groups does it work for?

You set the reader's age, and the engine adjusts sentence length, vocabulary and themes. Text for toddlers is very short and repetitive. Picture books for ages 4 to 8 can carry a small lesson or a gentle twist. Always read the finished book yourself before sharing it with children.

Write it, illustrate it, finish it.
