What's New in NFE Studios: A Real Workstation, Live Characters, Storybooks and Pay-As-You-Go Tokens

By NFE Studios · Published · Updated · 5 min read
SHORT ANSWER

NFE Studios now opens straight into the studio. You can go live as an AI character from your webcam, write and illustrate page-turning storybooks, and turn stories into films with voices and music. Writing is free. Everything else runs on tokens at 1 cent each, and new accounts start with 100 free tokens.

NFE Studios looks different today. Instead of a page that talks about the studio, the home page now is the studio, running a live demo: characters talking on a video call and a live stream, and the shows we've made playing in the movie reel.

Here's everything that changed, what each tool does, what it costs, and how to try it in a few minutes.

What is NFE Studios now?

NFE Studios is an AI creative studio that writes, illustrates, voices and films your stories — and brings characters to life live. The difference today is that you land inside the tools themselves. There's no sales page to scroll past. The demo you see on the home page is the real workstation.

Under the hood, the flow is the same one we use for our own shows. You start with an idea. The engine reads it and asks you a few tailored questions. You approve a short writing guide, and then the full, formatted piece is written. From there you can add narration, ask for “Engine notes” revisions, illustrate scenes, animate them, and compile a film or a PDF storybook. The step-by-step guide walks through every screen.

What are the five tools in the workstation?

Along the top of the workstation are the five things you can make: Live, Character, Story, Movie and Text. Pick one and the demo turns into that tool's real workstation, ready for your idea. On the left you'll find your account, your token balance and your setup.

  • Live — turn your webcam into a character in real time.
  • Character — design the characters you'll reuse across stories and streams.
  • Story — books, children's stories and biographies, illustrated page by page.
  • Movie — scripts that become illustrated, voiced, animated films.
  • Text — poems, speeches, essays, song lyrics, jokes and more. Writing is free.

How does going live as a character work?

Live turns your webcam into your character in real time. You can stream it to TikTok, YouTube or Twitch, or take a one-to-one video call as that character. It's opening to accounts with tokens in stages, and the demo on the home page shows what it looks like before you try it.

The idea is simple: a storyteller, teacher or creator who doesn't want to be on camera can still perform. You move and talk, and the character moves and talks with you. Because characters live in your account, the same character you illustrate in a storybook can also appear on a stream.

What backgrounds can you use on Live?

You have three choices. Keep your real room behind your character. Pick a ready-made scene: a podcast studio, a home kitchen, a streamer bedroom or a city rooftop at night. Or upload your own background. Your uploads are saved to your account, so they're ready for every character you make.

On camera, you're cut out in the browser and placed in the scene before the AI renders your character. That order matters. It keeps the background steady while you move, instead of having the scene wobble or redraw itself each frame.

How do the new storybooks work?

Open Story and you'll see a real page-turning storybook next to the formats. The example comes from our series Wings of a Dream. Write a book, a children's story or a biography, then illustrate every page with characters that stay consistent from the first page to the last.

Consistency comes from the cast. Each project has its own cast, and each cast member can have reference images. The illustrator works from that cast on every page, so your main character keeps the same face, hair and clothes. When the book is done, export it as a PDF storybook. Start with the AI children's book creator or write and illustrate any story.

Can you make movies and series in NFE Studios?

Yes. The movie reel on the home page is real work made with NFE Studios: La Familia de Sabores, Close Neighbors and Wings of a Dream. You start from a script, illustrate the scenes, animate them into video, add character voices and music, and compile the film, all in one project.

Scripts are written in standard screenplay format, with scene headings, action and dialogue. When you give cast members voices, each character's dialogue is spoken in their own voice, and the narrator never reads scene headings aloud. Start with the AI movie script generator or the commercial script writer for shorter pieces.

How much does NFE Studios cost now?

Subscriptions are gone. NFE Studios runs on tokens, and 1 token is 1 cent. Writing is free, with a fair-use rate limit. Every new account starts with 100 free welcome tokens, enough to try images before you spend anything. You only pay when you generate pictures, video, voices or films.

  • Standard image: 15 tokens. High-quality image: 60 tokens.
  • Video: 13 tokens per second, so a 5-second motion clip is 65 tokens.
  • Voice narration: 15 tokens per 1,000 characters.
  • Film render: 60 tokens per minute of finished film.
  • If a generation fails, its tokens go back to your balance.

Top-ups start at $10 for 1,000 tokens, with bonus tokens on bigger loads. The full table is on the pricing page.

What do you get when you add tokens?

The free plan is watermarked and doesn't include commercial rights. Once you add tokens, you're on pay-as-you-go: exports have no watermark, and you get commercial rights to what you make. That matters if you plan to sell a book on Amazon, post a client ad, or monetize a channel.

Commercial rights from us are one part of the picture. If you plan to register a copyright, read what the U.S. Copyright Office says about AI-generated work. In short, your own creative choices, edits and arrangement are what count. We cover this in more detail in our movie script guide.

Does the studio work in Spanish?

Yes. The whole studio, including the new home page and the storybook, works in English and Latin American Spanish. Switch any time from the language toggle. Several of our own productions, including La Familia de Sabores and Wings of a Dream, were made in Spanish, so this isn't an afterthought.

How do you try it today?

Open the home page and pick a tool. Type one sentence about your idea, answer the questions, and approve the writing guide. Writing costs nothing. When you're ready for pictures, your 100 welcome tokens cover several standard images, so you can see your characters before you decide to top up.

  1. Pick Story, Movie or Text and describe your idea in a sentence.
  2. Answer the tailored questions, or tap a suggested answer.
  3. Approve the writing guide, then read the full piece.
  4. Ask for Engine notes, revise, and add narration if you like.
  5. Set your cast, illustrate, and export or compile.
